When financial scandal rocks the Northwest Ohio Community Theatre, first-time stage manager Emma must keep their production of "The Importance of Being Earnest" from falling apart behind the scenes. Great shows depend on so much more than what the audience sees, and if Emma fails at this one, the whole theatre could go down with her.

"A Real Part of the Show" is an inside look at the artists who don't seek applause, and a love letter to the true magic of theater.

About Anita S. Crane (Toledo, Ohio Author)

Anita S. Crane

Anita S. Crane is a writer, IT professional, and theater volunteer. She has worked on almost 30 productions at the Toledo Repertoire Theatre since 1999, including 15 mainstage shows as stage manager.

She was inspired to write her novel, "A Real Part of the Show," by all the unsung heroes of technical theater that she’s worked with over the years. The actors get the applause and the directors get the praise, and rightly so, but it’s time to shine a spotlight on the other people who make the show go on.

Anita lives with her husband, Brad, who shares her love of theater, and their two cats, Maddie and Lexie. When she’s not backstage or at her writing desk, she works for The University of Toledo.
