After a divorce, how does a man deal with unresolved feelings of anger toward his ex-wife? How does a man deal with past betrayals both big and small? How does a man avoid being stressed and depressed when thinking about the legal and emotional ramifications of the divorce? How does a man start to mend a broken heart?

Derek Madison is a divorced man who is disillusioned and broken after a horrific divorce and understands all of these issues. Derek’s biggest question is can he move on with his life if that means not having a relationship with his three daughters? While Derek is learning how to overcome his heartache, he unexpectedly meets Shaly and falls in love. They marry and although Derek finds happiness, the past of his divorce continues to haunt him because he doesn’t see his children.

As Derek moves on with his life, he experiences a health scare and Shaly has to decide how to tell his children. His daughters visit Derek and they begin to reconnect when an unexpected tragedy strikes. It turns Derek, Shaly, and his daughters’ lives upside down. As Derek, Shaly and his children adjust to the aftermath of the catastrophe, Derek discovers that his heartache may finally come to an end.
