At first, former NFL football player, Tim Hunt, believes seeing his former high school sweetheart in a bar is happenstance. He quickly learns she tracked him down to the Isle of Palms in South Carolina to tell him a secret she has kept hidden for eight years. She reveals giving birth to his child and putting the boy up for adoption. She has reason to believe the child is now in danger. She is on a mission to find him and she pleads for Tim’s help. From the Carolina coast to the mountains of Virginia, their journey takes them to a small town protecting a fringe group that mixes religion with seditious extremism. Fear and control keeps mother and son enmeshed in the group with no way out. Tim’s and Abby’s plan to rescue them puts themselves directly in the line of fire. Not knowing whom to trust, they must rely on each other to survive and fulfill their goal to bring their son safely home.

Susan Mills Wilson is a native of North Carolina where she lives with her husband and pampered golden retriever. An avid football fan, she pulls for the Carolina Panthers as long as they’re winning. In addition to writing suspense novels and general fiction short stories, she enjoys writing a blog on a range of topics. She is the leader of the Charlotte Writers Club Mystery Critique Group and a board member of Charlotte Writers Club. Much of her research on law enforcement for her suspense novels is derived from her participation in three citizen police academies where she was given a certificate of completion, but thankfully no gun or shield.
