About Kay Johnson-Gentile (Buffalo, New York Author)

Kay Johnson-Gentile

Dr. Kay Johnson-Gentile is a retired College Professor of Education, who from a career perspective has always loved writing, teaching, and being a musician. For the innovative teaching methods she incorporated into her undergrad and graduate classes at Buffalo State College, she was awarded the prestigious State University of New York’s (SUNY) Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2002.

Because of a spinal disability that dramatically restricted her walking, as well as ability to sit or stand for long periods, Kay had to retire in 2002 from her position at the college. Her dad always told her, “If life gives you a lemon, make lemonade.” That is just what this resourceful, feisty senior is now doing, as she writes her stories, blog, and latest book at home and from her adjustable bed in the master bedroom.
