Welcome to San Diego: An Introduction the Region! This is the new 5th edition of the book that is the only comprehensive reference guide to San Diego County. The new (2014) edition has been expanded and updated, and for the first time is now produced in full color.
Since its first edition in 1976, it has conveyed in a concise but informative manner the essentials of the history, natural environment, communities, attractions, and uniqueness of the San Diego region. A picture is worth a thousand words, and the new edition contains over a hundred of them in full color. It also includes a chapter on Tijuana and northern Baja California. About Philip R. Pryde (San Diego, California Author)
Philip R. Pryde is professor emeritus at San Diego State University, where he taught courses in environmental policy for 32 years. He has authored six books and over a hundred published papers on environmental topics, has been a Fulbright Research Scholar, and is the recipient of a national distinguished teaching award.
In the community, he has served as Chair of the San Diego County Planning Commission and been a member of the Board of Directors of the County Water Authority. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the San Diego River Park Foundation and the Anza Borrego Foundation.
He has been a frequent lecturer locally on a variety of topics, including renewable energy, local wildlife conservation, and the possible effects of climate change in the San Diego area. He has served as editor and partial author for all five editions of San Diego: An Introduction to the Region.
