Strength – It's What I Found When I Removed My Makeup
In this book, SL Stoutermire tackles the topic of her faith and the depression that she was silently enduring. She describes the process she went through dealing with the issues that contributed to her depression. This book describes the process that she went through to find her way back to God. It discusses the trials and tribulations that she endured. It describes the physical, emotional and social difficulties she experienced.
During her journey, she realized how so much of her life was pretense. No one knew the battles that she was experiencing in her life. Every time someone said, “How are you doing?” She did what everyone does. She gave a generic response. “I’m doing well.” The truth was, She wasn’t good at all. She was so lost. She felt as if she couldn’t share what she was going through with anyone because... Well, you just don’t do that. Right?
That’s what she did for a very long time. She metaphorically hid behind the makeup. Once she started to remove the makeup, she discovered her true self. She discovered God in new ways. He led her to who she was called to be in Him. He told her that she had to go out and share her testimony regardless of how uncomfortable it was for her in the beginning.
So today, she’s following the instructions of God and giving her testimony. It’s okay to not be okay. She’s encouraging everyone to remove the makeup.

SL Stoutermire lives in Alabama with her husband and their seven children. They spend time together as a family and serving God in the capacities that they have been called to serve. She's an advocate for education, mental health and the advancement of all communities regardless of the zip code among other issues. She is the author of the book "Strength It's What I Found When I Removed My Makeup". She is a coauthor of "I Said Yes". She's currently working on three books set to be released in late 2017 and early 2018. In addition SL Stoutermire is also coauthoring another book that will be released in 2017. She spends time volunteering and trying to make a difference in communities everywhere.
