The Brothers' Murder
This is a crime novel--a fun read--about a retiree who is looking for something to fill her time. She gets more than she bargained for when she becomes involved in the unsolved murders of two brothers.
Darla Potter, the heroine, with her dog Harper in tow, begins investigating the murders by sorting through old newspaper articles, and decides to ask neighbors of the brothers for information, posing as a census taker. Although her inquiries are at first unwelcome, she manages to gain the trust of a grandmother whose concern about her grandson outweighs any misgivings she has.
The plot heats up when she meets up with the grandson who claims that he knows exactly what happened the night of the murders. Darla becomes obsessed with solving the murders and comes up with a plan for helping an informant and bringing about justice for the brothers. At the same time she must hide her involvement from her husband Jake who would be mortified to find out that his wife had taken on a murder investigation!
