Allen, a life-long Hoosier, began writing while her children were teens and she was office manager for an otolaryngologist/plastic surgeon. She's blogged and created monthly newsletters for various organizations, and freelanced feature articles for the community section of the La Porte Herald Argus. She was commissioned to pen a poem for the Lincoln Highway Association, which displays on their kiosk at the La Porte Chamber of Commerce.
