Liam’s father dies but the truth is that Liam doesn’t fully understand what this means. He wonders if his dad is hiding. Liam searches in all the obvious places until his dreams lead him to the sky where he feels his dad’s presence all around him. In this sensitive and tender book, Liam learns that just as the sky is everywhere, so, too, is his father’s love. Because the Sky is Everywhere helps children accept that even though someone close to them dies, the love they feel can be everlasting.

“Just like grieving grown-ups grieving children naturally have questions about where the person who died has gone. This compassionate story offers a reassuring, loving answer. This resource reminds us that any child old enough to love is old enough to mourn.” —Dr. Alan Wolfelt, Author, Healing A Child’s Grieving Heart, Grief Counselor, Founder, Center for Loss & Life Transition

"I wish Because the Sky Is Everywhere was available for my daughter to search for answers in her own special way, just as the boy in the book has the opportunity to follow his thoughts and emotions. Kudos to Nancy Sharp for helping families with one of the most difficult experiences by allowing the children to find their own way. This is a perfect resource for the families I support and a gift to those in need." — Rachel Kodanaz, Grief & Loss Consultant, Author of Living with Loss, One Day at a Time and Grief in the Workplace

About Nancy Sharp (Fairfield County, Connecticut Author)

Nancy Sharp

Nancy Sharp was widowed at 37 when her twins were just two and a half years old. While the circumstances were tragic, Nancy committed to bold living for herself and her children after almost a decade of caregiving and mourning in New York City. That decision led her to start over in Denver, Colorado, where she found love again in the pages of a magazine with Steve Saunders, a former TV news anchor and father of two boys who’d also lost his spouse to cancer. They blended their families and have been married nine years. The twins, now teenagers, have no actual memories of their father, but find peace in knowing there is no end point to love. Nancy shared her story in the powerful memoir Both Sides Now: A True Story of Love, Loss, and Bold Living (Books & Books Press, 2014), recipient of eight literary honors including Books For A Better Life, a National Indie Excellence Award, and the Colorado Book Award.

Because the Sky is Everywhere is directly inspired by Nancy’s twins, who shared similar dreams of yearning to Liam, the boy in the book. As a keynote speaker, Nancy teaches audiences to move from stuck, disappointment, and loss of all kinds toward growth and positive change. Select appearances include New York’s 92nd Street Y, Centura Health, Livestrong Foundation, University of Denver, University of Colorado Hospital, the American Academy of Psychiatrists, and other groups.
