Sherri Bunn Godwin was born in Smithfield, North Carolina on March 16, 1953. Sherri grew up in Clayton, North Carolina. Sherri married and had a son, Jeff. When Jeff graduated from high school, Sherri went to college to be a teacher. Sherri was a first grade teacher for 2 years. Then, Sherri went to college to be a librarian. "A teacher has 25 chances to make a difference in a child's life. A librarian interacts with every student and adult and has infinite opportunities to be the spark that changes someone's life."

Sherri begin writing poetry at age 9. She has also written Christian songs that she has performed at church events.

She wrote her first Jeff story five years ago. Jeff and the Brown Bear was published in June 2015. Jeff was an amazing child who has grown into an amazing man. As a child, Jeff questioned everything. Jeff took everything apart because he wanted to know what made it work. Sherri has written a series of Jeff stories.
