These Guidebooks are for Parents, Teachers, Librarians, Museum Educators, Peace Educators and all who Work with Children.
These Handbooks share my work life and experiences including my philosophy, ideas, programs, relevant websites, articles, quotations, songs, stories lists of books, My Truths/Things About Me, Some Things that Concern Me or I Question, and Mrs. Marks’ Sparks. Mrs. Marks’ Sparks are ideas I have picked up along the way by experience, readings and conversations with others that I feel are important to share. They are not necessarily original to me.
My goal for these Instructional Books is to encourage the reader to share their gifts, passions, your pebbles, etc. with the children and adults they are working with by using my ideas, philosophy, and programs as a stepping off point. The thread running through all these Resource Books is to be kind, compassionate, loving oneself and others, showing empathy, getting along with each other, and using positive communication skills.

About Julienne Levy Marks (Atlanta, Georgia Author)
I have had a myriad of educational experiences throughout my work career: I have been a Youth Services Librarian, primarily in public libraries but also as a Media Specialist, a Teacher in an elementary school and college, a Museum Educator, a Motivational Teacher, a Youth Advisor, a Peace Educator teaching conflict resolution, a camp counselor and an administrator and a Parenting Workshop Chairperson of "How To Talk So Kids Will Listen" ™ and "Siblings Without Rivalry" ™ both by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish which were based on Dr. H. Ginott’s work "Between Parent and Child".
My education includes a Master of Arts in Library and Information Science with an emphasis on Youth Services, a Master of Arts in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Sociology.
When I retired I wanted to give back to the community. I volunteer at Head Start, sharing Story Times to 3 and 4 year old, being with kindergartners and the grades at a Waldorf school and a Parenting Workshop Chairperson of "How To Talk So Kids Will Listen" ™ and "Siblings Without Rivalry" ™ both by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish which were based on Dr. H. Ginott’s work "Between Parent and Child". At Head Start I also presented a 10 week curriculum called "Peacemaking Skills for Little Kids" by Fran Schmidt and Alice Friedman (Peace Education Foundation Inc., Miami) to four year old and shared a Teacher Training with the staff.
I have been married since 1969 and have a daughter and a grandson. I have lived and worked in Long Island, New York, South Florida, and near Atlanta, Georgia.
