ILL 4 LIFE! OUR TIME, MY STORY
ILL 4 LIFE! OUR TIME, MY STORY is about my time as an Ill-State Assassin and my group Tha Chamba. What is a Ill-State Assassin you ask. It's an music organization that reigns in the Chicago hip hop golden era in the 80's, 90's and the beyond. It's based on my life in the music industry. The trials and tribulations of thirty members trying to make it big. Friends turns enemies, relationships, feuds with rival crews and family love. Trying to fulfill our dreams and while being nominated for a Grammy award in the process. But most of all, making a mark in the history of urban hip hop music. My first installment in my collection of books with many more to come.
About Willie J. Wrice Sr (Chicago, Illinois Author)
My name is J. Wrice Sr. I am one of the founding members of the Ill-State Assassins Music Group out of Chicago. During the 80's,90's, to the Mid-2000's, I was in the Hip Hop music industry. Producing music, DJing, and writing music. These elements would help me as I transitioned into becoming an author. Writing music and writing books is very similar. In both, stories are told, rather it's fiction or non fiction, to capture the listener's and reader's mind. Venturing into being an author is not an easy task, but I love a challenge. Enjoy this journey with me as I continue to grow and live up to the expectations of an author.
A native of Chicago, I was born December 11, 1970. I always had a passion for writing. Being homeless at a time in my life and dealing with the streets made the hip hop scene my home. One of the four horseman who created the Chicago music crew the Ill-State Assassins and being a member of the Grammy nominated group Tha Chamba, I always strive for excellence. But my life adventure doesn't end there.
As an EMCEE, I told stories through pen and paper set to music, similar to how an author tells a story through pen and paper in a book. Capturing ears and minds through EMCEEing lead to being able to do the same thing through being an author. I have always been humble to my musical success at the time and I am now the same way learning and growing about being an author.
